19/20 - Joelle Thomson

2015 SECTION 94

You won’t see the words ‘Sauvignon Blanc’ on the label of this boundary-pushing wine, but you will taste one of the country’s most complex, full-bodied, highest quality wines made from this popular grape variety. It was matured on lees for 18 months in French oak barrels, which releases savoury, creamy, nutty flavours. It’s a costly exercise but turns up the volume on complexity, X-factor and deliciousness in this bone-dry white. Best of all, it ages superbly, developing complexity for up to 10 years

2015 SECTION 94

The trademark reductive complexity will surprise the regular sauvignon-blanc drinker and delight those who delve into great white Burgundy. Flinty lemon and grapefruit pith and really fresh, river-stone minerals, the palate has a gently creamy array of lime and green-mango flavors. Super wine. Drink now. Screw cap.
