2010 Section 94

This is a smaller production offering from Dog Point and also an oaked sauvignon blanc. The nose shows some oak and buttery notes, with green bell pepper, jalapeno juice, sea salt, mineral and jalapeno preserves. Section 94 really shines on the palate, with grassy and spice flavours slightly tempered by the nuttiness and oxidation of the wood. A real stunner, it was tasted alongside the ’07 vintage proving that a couple of years of further cellar aging will make this wine even better. 92/100

2010 Section 94

For Sauvignon to retain such vitality and energy in the presence of complexity as profound as this defines a lifetime achievement for James Healy and Ivan Sutherland. Magnificent ripples of green pea, capsicum, mint, grapefruit, lime and lemon, then wood smoke and flint. Scintillating mineral presence, pristine freshness and outstanding length. If you thought sauvignon wouldn't improve with age, just you wait. 95/100
