In love with Dog Point Wines Pinot Noir. Dark cherries on the nose, good balance of raspberries, spice and oak integration.
Six clones of Pinot Noir employed grown primarily on clay soils, hand-picked, given a cold soak and indigenous yeast fermented to 14.0% alc., the wine spending 21-28 days on skins and aged 17 months in 50% new French oak barrels. Dark, moderately deep ruby-red colour with purple hues on edge. The nose softly builds in intensity, showing ripe dark raspberry fruit aromas with notes of red liquorice, and growing layers of red florals and oak spices. Medium-full bodied, rich and softly textured flavours of red berry fruits, herbs and oak form a dense and weighty core. The fruit is supported by fine-grained, supple tannins with slightly elevated acidity, enhancing the fruit richness and brightness. The mouthfeel is soft, rounded and flowing, with underlying linearity and tension that carries through to a long, detailed finish with raspberry, liquorice and oak nuances. This is an attractively soft-textured, fresh Pinot Noir with subtle richness and weight. Serve with duck, pork and veal dishes over the next 5-6+ years. 18.5+/20
