Gismondi on Wine, Canada, May 2012

2010 Section 94

A more subtle version of the regular DP sauvignon with a pronounced, chalky minerality and a strong citrus undercurrent. The attack has a buttery, creamy lees underbelly with lemon and oyster liqueur notes throughout the finish. An intense, rich, complex white that steps out of the norm of most Marlborough Sauvignon. Unique, food-friendly and age worthy; need we say more. 91/100

2010 Section 94

This is a smaller production offering from Dog Point and also an oaked sauvignon blanc. The nose shows some oak and buttery notes, with green bell pepper, jalapeno juice, sea salt, mineral and jalapeno preserves. Section 94 really shines on the palate, with grassy and spice flavours slightly tempered by the nuttiness and oxidation of the wood. A real stunner, it was tasted alongside the ’07 vintage proving that a couple of years of further cellar aging will make this wine even better. 92/100
