This classy, single-vineyard wine is grown on the south side of the Wairau Valley, hand-picked, fermented and matured for 18 to 20 months in French oak barriques (15 to 25 per cent new), and given a full, softening malolactic fermentation. Bright, light lemon/green, the 2014 vintage (4.5 stars) is a sweet-fruited, bone-dry wine with very youthful, grapefruit-like flavours threaded with fresh acidity, slightly toasty notes, a minerally streak, and excellent vibrancy, delicacy, poise and length. A distinctly cool-climate style, it's well worth cellaring to mid-2017+
