SUNDAY 4 MARCH, 11am-3pm

Walk for Kate is a fun, family day out at Dog Point Vineyard to raise money for Kate Moetaua (née Glover).

Come and enjoy the native walking tracks and picnic area at Dog Point Vineyard. Bring your own picnic or support the sausage sizzle, coffee cart or Mr Whippy while listening to live music (proceeds from sales will go to Kate).

$20 per adult. Children free.

Please enter through the Dog Point Vineyard main gate at 797 New Renwick Road. There will be a large sign at the gate to mark the entrance.

Note that the carpark is a 2km walk from the picnic site so please cater for this and bring comfortable walking shoes.

Dog Point Vineyard native walkway

The Dog Point Vineyard native walkway has been developed over several years, improving the landscape and surrounds of Mill Stream.

The native planting has increasingly attracted more birdlife to the area, including tui, bellbird and kereru.

Dog Point Vineyard won the Supreme Award and the landscape and habitat enhancement category at the 2017 Cawthron Marlborough Environment Awards.

Kate Moetaua, daughter of Marlborough locals Wendy and Owen, is undergoing treatment for advanced melanoma.

The best treatment is a very successful drug that is unfunded and comes at a huge monthly cost.

The Walk for Kate event is being organised in the hope that the Marlborough community can rally together to help assist Kate, her husband and three girls with costs while Kate is unable to return to her beloved teaching job.

The event will be held wet or fine.
