Rating: 5 stars $$$. The outstanding whites from this new Marlborough producer were reviewed here last week. The pinot is no slouch either: a complex nose of plum, peat, foresty notes and gentle oak, a palate that’s elegant and silky. The flavour builds with a classical gamey thread running through it, and a super-long aftertaste. A great first effort.
Ageing? Drink over four years.
Food ideas: Coq au vin; pigeon.
